What is a “Buddhist Sangha?”

A Buddhist sangha is a community that practices the Dharma (Buddha’s teachings) together. Sangha was taught by the Buddha as the third jewel, as the very embodiment of the first two jewels — the Buddha and the Dharma. He taught that: “Admirable friendship, admirable companionship, admirable camaraderie is actually the whole of the holy life.”

Thich Nhat Hahn (one of the most revered sangha builders of our time) taught:

🪷 “The Sangha is your teacher.”

🪷 “Without a sangha, you cannot go far on the path.”

🪷 “The next Buddha may take the form of a sangha.

In the practice of mindful understanding and loving kindness, we have the opportunity to learn about and directly experience a life-changing paradigm shift wherein separateness is experienced as illusory, and interconnectedness and interbeing as true refuge.

Sangha can truly be a path home.
